Development, improvement and enhancement of a WMS/eCom solution

Scope

The goal is to dramatically increase sales in a company that sells books, music, videos, and games online. How to do this without increasing labor costs and without sacrificing the quality of service or customer convenience?

Solution

In 2003, young American entrepreneurs tasked Inreco LAN to develop an Indaba Merchant application for online trading. The created application should have been able to sell books, CDs, DVDs, and games simultaneously on more than 30 electronic trading platforms (including Amazon.com, eBay.com, Half.com). The task also contained a requirement for the application to have the ability to adapt each time one of these trading platforms changes the rules for data exchange.

The system grew along with the client's business. It covered all the main processes, and from a small desktop application grew into a full-fledged enterprise solution of the WMS class. The client, BetterWorldBooks company (BWB), has become one of the world's largest book retailers and in some years happened to be ranked in the top 50 sellers on Amazon.com and in the top 400 rating on eBay.com.

Inreco LAN has been working as a remote software development center for the client for many years. Our employees help in supporting and developing the current BWB system, and perform third-party tasks to customize the platform for other Indaba Merchant clients.
