Project Title: Zodiac Web Portal

The Challenge: Big plants in Russia that consume more than 750 kVA monthly, have to buy power at the retail power market and thus must comply with the strict regulations of the Russian power market. Financial obligations of heavy users are calculated by very complex algorithms and are dependent on a lot of parameters, e.g. planned values, market and regulated parts of a payment, actual power consumption, consumption pattern, penalties, etc.

It is quite a challenge for a power consumer to follow all the rules and regulations, to clearly understand all the algorithms, to plan power consumption perfectly. That is why a lot of plants lose money because of improper planning, inefficient consumption, penalties, etc.

A software system is requested by heavy users to help them swiftly calculate financial obligations without assistance. The systems should provide certain modeling and analysis capabilities.

The Solution: Inreco LAN has developed the Zodiac Web portal intended to help heavy power users with calculating their financial obligations for the power consumed.

Clients are able to use the portal for:

• calculating costs of the power consumed according to the regulations of the retail power market;
• checking invoices from power suppliers;
• simulating and comparing different options of payments depending on different power consumption  parameters.

The Zodiac Web portal has been placed in commercial operation at VKS in September, 2009, and is now serving its clients.
